As a half Husky fan, half Trojan fan, this is always an interesting week for me. My SC friends and classmates are ashamed of me and my UW friends and husband say they don’t want my support. I am a floater, just hanging out in an abyss of Cardinal, Purple and Gold; albeit, two separate shades of gold….one is more yellow, let’s just be honest.
I know you have heard it before; I grew up a Husky fan. My Dad and his friend, George would take me to games at Husky Stadium. We would wake up early Saturday morning, pack for the elements, drive to the Arboretum and make the long trek to the College Inn for breakfast. Then, we set off across campus and over the bridge where we would find me a ticket near the tunnel. My Dad and George would go to their seats and I would hang out around the tunnel watching the game and hoping for a high five from Lamar Lyons, Mark Breuner or Napoleon Kaufman. While that didn’t happen, I did get the wrist bands from a one, Tobiase Brookins….yep, big time. Needless to say, I was ecstatic and put them up on my wall next to my Husky football poster. I was a Husky fan! The sound of the USC fight song and Conquest made me shudder and the name Brad Otton made me nauseous. Well, obviously things have changed……no, my love of Husky football hasn’t diminished, but I found extra room in my football loving heart to fit the USC Trojans. That’s right, they both fit snuggly in there and I love it, and am not ashamed to admit it dammit! So if you see me this weekend I may be sporting 50% Purple and 50% Cardinal, but I will be 100% ready for a great game and lots of fun!
**Also, on a side note, Zach Banner better watch out- if he gets near my homeboy Dubs, he may be in for a world of hurt! Who says they would kick a dog, seriously? The USC part of me wants to kick him for uttering such a stupid remark.
