This is part of a goverment campaign asking women to choose from one of 18 officially sanctioned hairstyles chosen by communist officials trying to get rid of western influences.

Married women tend to sport a shorter hair cut but those who are unmarried are allowed a bit more freedom.

As for men... they can choose from only 10 hairstyles!

Men should keep their hair shorter than five centimeters and have it cut every 15 days.

Older men are allowed to grow their hair up to seven centimeters.
