Last day in India blog...in which it has been made clear that I am the greatest street vendor haggler of all time and everyone in the vicinity gives me three cheers.
This is a picture of my son, Josh.
The day before our World Vision Sponsorship Drive, next Thursday December 6th, is Josh's second birthday. I suspect this will be the day I have a mental breakdown. Not planning one, mind you....just self-actualizing a bit. You see, Josh is my world, and he is warm, happy, and healthy, He has a closet full of clothes, a box full of toys, a shelf full of books, and a pantry full of food. He has the benefit of being born to healthy, gainfully employed and educated parents who understand and have access to medicine. He lives in a warm house with clean sheets on his bed and plays every single day with people who adore him. He will most likely go to college and be supported in all his choices, in love, career, and life.
If he was born in some spots I've seen this week in New Delhi, or thousands of places like it in the world, he would have little chance of living to the age of 5.
Next Thursday I'm going to ask you to sponsor a child with me. I hope you'll trust me, the amazing people from World Vision, and the stories you hear next Thursday, DECEMBER 6th on 95.7 KJR The Bob Rivers Show.
It's my last day in New Delhi and the wrap-up is this.....We are all so lucky. We really are.
See you in Seattle.
