So, this morning we were talking about whether Kelly Clarkson will ruin the National Anthem at the Superbowl (NO!), and somehow it turned into Spike saying that he could sing the first two verses without messing up. Then SOMEHOW, I bet Pedro $100 that Spike would be successful, with Joe and Bob as moderators. You know, I'm not into gambling at all, but in the moment, my cash was burning a hole in my pocket and I swore that Spike could be trusted to get this thing right. He is, after all, a huge history buff. And a singer. And since we sit next to each other I felt a certain kinship. All in.
Well, ten minutes later, and after Bob did a nice job icing him by making him wait through commercials, I was a loser. While he was singing it sounded good to me. WHO KNOWS THE SECOND VERSE!? No one. Not even Spike. With about 10 pairs of eyes on the transcribed lyrics, we still don't know who is right or who is wrong, but I feel my c-note slipping away. Ah well.
