On Sunday March 24th I will be attempting to summit the highest landmark in Seattle, the Columbia Tower.
The Big Climb is 69 flights of stairs, 1,311 steps , 788 feet and, since I am a pretty big guy who prefers elevators to stairs I dont suspect this will be easy.
It is lots easier than beating Leukemia and Lymphoma however and the guy I'm climbing with is a young man who has done that.
I went flying with Nick in a Leer Jet a few years back when the prognosis for him was not so great. Thanks to lots of hard work, great medical care and advances in research Nick is now fourteen and doing great. I am sure he's going to kick my butt on the climb.
I am honored to be a member of "Nick's Flight Crew". That's the name of our team. I will be bringing up the rear most likely but I WILL be seeing Nick and the rest of my teammates at the top of the tower !
If you would like to help root me on and , more important, help fund the research that has made it possible for people like Nick to beat Leukemia, you can do so by donating any amount small or large.
To do so just go to www.bigclimb.org hit the "donate" button and search for me by my legal name, Joel Bryant .
Check out this video of some of my VERY LIMITED training.
Thank You in advance to taking the time to read this and I will give a full report on Monday the 25th if my legs still work well enough to lift me out of bed !
Cheers, Joe
