An article in this mornings USA Today says the many Mexicans are leaving the United States and returning to Mexico.

Talk of Immigration quickly turned to talk of food because, if there is one thing I have noticed its the influx of GREAT, cheap authentic Mexican food with the influx of the Hispanic community.

Two places in specific I know of are both in the Renton Highlands.

One is a Butcher Shop and Bakery located on Union Ave next to the place where you take your drivers test called La Chaquita.

If you stop in around lunch you will see the baker filling the case with fresh baked sandwiches stuffed with ham, cream cheese and jalepenos. TASTY. There are also plenty of items in there to satisfy any sweet tooth.

Also, If you want a treat for the BBQ ask the butcher for Carne Asada. He will take the fresh, thin sliced, Skirt Steak and dip it in a secret marinade at no extra cost. Its about six bucks a pound. Let that stuff soak for a few hours, grill it up, wrap in in a hot tortilla with peppers and onions and you are happening.

The other place I really like is a little joint on Sunset in Renton. I have no idea what it is called but its the little Taco place next door to the Teriyaki spot that is in the same strip mall as the Goodwill in the Highlands.

Follow your nose and those directions and you will find a variety of tacos and fresh tamales for CHEAP.

In both of these establishments you primarly find customers and diners who have come to our area from South of the Border and you will also find world class food served by friendly people.

So tell me....where is the killer Mexican place in your area ? I know there there are many that have popped up over the past few years, some that even move around from place to place. I would love to hear about them. YUM !
