Good grief.

The original voice of Charlie Brown, 56 year-old Peter Robbins (A Charlie Brown Christmas, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown), has been arrested for stalking and making threats against his ex-girlfriend and her plastic surgeon. Apparently Robbins paid for his then-girlfriend to get some new "Great Pumpkins," and wanted his money back once the two broke-up.

In further behavior unbecoming of Charlie Brown and Snoopy, Robbins alledgedly abused his dog as well, threatening to continue doing so unless somebody gave him a refund for the surgery.

Robbins has never had any other run-ins with the law, so his lawyer is portraying him as a man "distraught."

For now Robbins is in a San Diego jail, with bail set at $550,000. If convicted, he may be trading in his yellow-shirt with the zig-zag design for a 9-year stint in prison orange.

A couple of years ago, Robbins narrated a "Charlie Brown Christmas" storybook App. His voice was warm and familiar, and it was a treat to hear a grown-up Charlie Brown speaking to a grown-up me. This is how I would prefer to remember Peter Robbins.

Speaking as a life-long fan of "A Charlie Brown Christmas," I hope Robbins gets any help he may need and that there's a happier ending ahead for the voice of one of the most beloved animated characters of all-time.

Please don't pull the football away from Peanuts fans, Charlie Brown.
