Pets are a part of my family. Cats, to be specific. And the death of my first feline several years ago hit me harder than I could have imagined. I still think of her, and occasionally rub my fingers over a little paw-print from her that our Vet made for us.
So I get the attachment. The loss. The grief.
But, short of cloning your loved one, we all have to say goodbye. Don't we? Maybe not. A company in Elk Grove Village, Illniois named LifeGem has come up with a way to keep Mittens, Fido... or even your spouse... with you forever. You can turn their ashes into diamonds! Here's an example from the Wall Street Journal.
So what do you think? Fantastic idea? Or too morbid? Would any living thing really approve of being turned into jewelry? I guess most wouldn't mind--until you tried to pawn them for some quick cash.
