North Korea has invaded my hometown of Spokane, Washington!
Don't panic just yet. It's for a movie: the remake of 80's brat-pack classic "Red Dawn."

Here's what it looks like when Hollywood blows things up in my old stomping grounds...
And here's the official movie trailer. Keep an eye out for the Space Needle reference.
All of this is sort of weird for me. I was the intended audience when the original (now dated and a bit hokey) Red Dawn came out. My teenage self left the theater imagining what the action would look like if it took place in Spokane. And here it is! Sort of.
Plot twist: Hollywood decided the State of Michigan was cheaper to film in than Washington State. That snowglobe in the trailer is about as close as the film-makers got to the Emerald City or the Lilac City.
Oh well. At least I can sleep tonight knowing Riverfront Park's clock tower and carousel are safe-and-sound, still standing in the actual city of Spokane. Unless they CGI it. That would be cool.
