So I've been in Hawaii for two weeks, catching every sunset, and three locations stand out to me as being the most romantic places to watch the sun go down. I thought I'd share them with you.

In no particular order:

'AMA 'AMA Restauarant at Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa

My jaw literally dropped when I walked into this fine-dining experience, with plenty of open-aired seating a stone's throw away from the Pacific Ocean. The food is delicious, the staff is Grade-A Disney, and the view is heaven on Earth. Make reservations for best seating. And, I have a feeling; tell them you're celebrating a birthday or anniversary for maximum "wow!"

House without a Key at the Halekulani hotel

Named after a novel featuring Honolulu's famous fictional Chinese detective, Charlie Chan, the outdoor patio is the perfect spot to grab drinks and watch the sky turn pink, orange, and red as the sun seems to sink into the ocean like the pineapple in your beverage. Best Mai Tai's on the island, for my money. If that's not enough atmosphere for you, House without a Key features a terrific musical trio (including Ukulele) and a former Miss Hawaiian interpreting the songs through hula dance. The quintessential Hawaiian evening.

To be fair, we got to the House without a Key while the sun was already setting. I took this beauty from a footbridge in Waikiki:

Ola at Turtle Bay Resort

Coming fresh off a stop at Giorgio’s Shrimp Truck on the North Shore, my wife and I grabbed a table at this Turtle Bay Restaurant that literally sits on the beach. Relaxing in sand-whipped, aged wooden furniture with chair legs planted firmly in the sand, we nibbled on a fruit and cheese plate, sipped fruffi drinks (hey, when on the islands, do as the islanders do) and listened to the surf crash gently on the beach. Thatched umbrella tops, couples holding hands on the beach and Tiki torches burning bright complete the picture. Wonderful.

Now, remember: this is the great outdoors. You may have the occassional dinner guest (or Gecko). But they're really harmless, and kind of cute. Y'know, in a "when I grow up I want to be Godzilla" kind of way.

I hope you get a chance to go to Oahu soon, so that you can experience one or more of these inspiring vistas for yourself. We are still giving away one more trip this week to Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa. Enter the Name Game now for your chance to win!
